Epoch Resolves Complaints

Sometimes a customer is not sure why they've received a charge from Epoch.  That's because we are the payment service provider for thousands of online merchants.  So, how do you know what you've been charged for?

Epoch sent you an email confirmation (purchase receipt) for your initial purchase which describes what you bought, the name of the website from which you made the purchase, the terms of the purchase, your order ID, and a link to our customer service should you have any questions.

If you did not receive your email receipt for the transaction, then you can easily find out the details by using the Purchase Finder on Epoch's home page.  There you can review any charges processed by Epoch and see exactly what they were for and when they were made.

People understandably get upset when they think someone has taken their money without authorization.  They feel they've been ripped off or have fallen victim to a scam.  While it is a possibility that someone may have used your credit or debit card without your knowledge, it is very rarely the case.  People often make purchases they later forget about.  A quick review from the Epoch website or with a helpful customer service representative can help you recall what you bought.

If you wish to find out why you received a charge from Epoch, this is how you do it:

1)  Use your email search field and type in "Epoch" to try to retrieve your email receipt.  Information about your purchase and how to contact customer support can be found there.

2)  If you can't locate your receipt, go to Epoch.com where you can use the Purchase Finder tool to identify the purchase made to your card.

3)  If you're still having trouble, you can call our customer support center any time of day and get a live agent on the phone within seconds.  There are no endless menus to navigate and calls are generally connected to a helpful agent within fifteen seconds.

4) If you'd rather not call, you may use our live chat option.  You'll be connected to a helpful agent within a few seconds.

5) Alternatively you may send us an email with any question you have. Write to Billing@Epoch.com.

In the unfortunate circumstance that your card number has been compromised, we'll be happy to help you resolve the charges.  You will then want to contact your bank's fraud department and report your card as stolen so they may issue you a new card number.  If you delay reporting a lost, stolen, or compromised card, your liability for additional fraudulent purchases increases.

Epoch is a trusted name since 1996 and we never forget that we are a service industry.  We're always here to help.

Protecting Customers (and Merchants) from Fraud and Scams

Accepting online payments means working in what's called a "card-not-present" environment.  This situation brings with it a whole new set of challenges compared to a brick-and-mortar store front where you actually meet your customer, sell a tangible good, and can check ID.

There are many advantages to using and Internet Payment Service Provider (IPSP) and you can read more about that in this blog.  The focus for this post, however, is about the importance of risk management to protect both surfers and merchants in the virtual marketplace.

While there are certainly instances where a cardholder's information is compromised and used without authorization, this is by far not the norm.  With the protections in place by the card associations, cardholders can feel safe using their cards for online purchases.  Epoch verifies card information by employing all the anti-fraud methods made available by the card associations including AVS, CVV2, CVC2 and 3-D Secure (Verified by Visa and SecureCode).  In addition, we also use our own proprietary network of rules and filters that we have developed in-house and refined over many years of experience in this environment.

Preventing fraud is paramount to what we do.  It supports consumers and merchants alike to be vigilant in preventing the unauthorized use of cardholder information.

If you are a cardholder with questions about a charge, our friendly and knowledgeable staff is available to you any time.  Feel free to contact us.

If you are a merchant with questions regarding processing services, we are happy to show you how Epoch can help your business.

Billing options for your sites

For Merchants:

Epoch offers multiple Billing Options for Multiple Business Models

Epoch has billing options to fit your business needs.  Epoch.com specializes in subscription or membership billing but we also cater to different types of billing for digital content.

One Time Billing
You may charge your customer a one time charge for each individual sale.  This works well for a fixed length membership model or to sell specific amounts of content.  And your customer doesn't have to be concerned with recurring billing or cancelling a membership.

Recurring Billing
A monthly subscription model is a convenient billing method for certain membership sites.  Your customer is billed each month and can remain a member for as long as they want, or cancel at any time.

One Click Billing
For loyal customers who return to your site, we offer an option that allows you to make offers for additional services or content without the need to reenter their payment information.  Customers simply verify their wish to make the purchase and they are billed on the payment type used in their initial purchase.

Per Unit Billing
Per unit billing is great for sites that sell credits or minutes for access to content.  If you need to sell units we can easily accommodate you.

Contact Epoch today to learn more about the many options we can provide for your sites.
