Why is Epoch charging me?

Sometimes people rush to complete a sale without reading all of the details of the purchase.  Almost everyone is guilty of this at some level.  For instance, who reads all those service agreements when you upgrade a piece of software, and even if you did read them would they make any sense to you?   Who wants to read multiple pages of information just to use an app on a phone, or laptop or tablet anyway?

It's often said that the devil is in the details.  Or in other words, the fine print.  And while there may be some truth to that sentiment, this is never the case with a purchase you make with Epoch.  We ensure that the terms and conditions of every sale are clearly, legibly, and prominently displayed on the form in which you enter your payment information.  Second, we require merchants who use our services to list the terms and conditions on their website as well.  Third, you will receive an email immediately after completion of the sale stating exactly what was purchased and the terms of the sale.  Fourth, information about how to change your purchase, update your payment type, cancel a subscription, or get help with a password are all stated directly on your email receipt of purchase.  Fifth, you can cancel any membership/subscription at any time you wish.  You are not required to remain in any subscription.  Ever.

You are, however, responsible for purchases you make.  And, you are also responsible for subsequent billing if you remain a subscriber to a website.  It is for this very reason that we go beyond reasonable expectation to ensure that you are fully informed of any purchase you make online.  We want every customer that uses Epoch to manage their online subscriptions and purchases to be completely satisfied with our services.

Content Services and Subscription Based Billing

There are many examples of subscription based services for virtual content. These are services where you pay an incremental fee for access to various kinds of media.  With advancements in technology and bandwidth, more and more we are living in a world of virtual content.  Of course cable service providers have been around for decades and are a perfect example of paying a recurring fee for media services.  More recently, specialty companies like NetFlix for movies, Hulu for TV shows, and Spotify for music have gained popularity for their ease of use, use-anywhere mobility, and access to continuously available content on demand.

Established in 1996, Epoch is a global leader for internet-based subscription based billing for digital content.   Subscription billing presents its own unique challenges as does digital content.   We are the most experienced payment service provider in this space.  Our services are 100% PCI compliant and we are fully accredited by the card associations and the Better Business Bureau.

If you are a merchant in need of subscription billing services or other types of billing models, we would love to talk to you about your options. Feel free to contact us any time.

If you are a subscriber to a service that we bill for and have questions about your bill, feel free to contact Billing Support  24/7/365.

For Merchants: Helping your site feel at home all over the world

For Epoch Merchants:
Introducing Logo GPS

You want your surfers to feel welcome on your site, no matter where they are coming from.  And ultimately you probably want to sell them something.  Your site needs to speak their language and offer payment types familiar to your customer.  We're helping you do that.

We've launched a new product that will give your site a localization feature and inform your customers of their region-specific payment options prior to visiting the payment page.  It also promotes the region specific payment options best suited to your customer and your product.

Our new Logo GPS (Geo-targeted Payment Script) provides visitors to your site with a custom generated graphic displaying the logos of the most popular local payment options for their location.  It is easy to implement and gives your site a custom feel to international customers.

Logo GPS is the perfect complement to our Smart Payment Page which vastly reduces the number of decisions for the customer. The payment types presented are carefully chosen based not only on your customers' location, but also for the type of product being offered. Our payment forms are also instantly translated to your customers language and present in their local currency.

Epoch's new Logo GPS is available now to all Epoch merchants. Please contact your sales representative to ensure that your account is enabled to accept all worldwide payment options, or write to salesteam@epoch.com if you have any questions.

Epoch's V3 Payment Form - Innovation for the growing mobile market.

For Merchants:

Due to a fast growing mobile marketplace, Epoch has released a new version of their payment form catered specifically for users of tablets and smart phones.

Epoch has been been monitoring the growth of mobile purchases and the data speaks for itself.  More and more people are getting to you via a mobile device and this represents a significant and growing percentage of your sales.  This trend is expected to continue.  With the introduction of our latest payment form, we believe we can help this trend translate to an even greater boost in mobile sales.

We quietly released version three (V3) of their payment form a few weeks ago.  It does not replace payment forms already being used.  Instead it is an option available to any Epoch client who wishes to take advantage of it.

V3 has all the same great benefits of our highly developed Smart Payment Forms.  Basically, there are two features that set version three apart.  First, V3 has an updated, more modern look.  It has a fresh design and a very clean interface that is well suited for smaller screens.  Second, it employs bootstrap technology allowing it to scale into tablet and smartphone browsers as well as desktop browsers (including IE7) via responsive CSS.  V3 looks great and even adapts to portrait or landscape orientation automatically.  It works just as well on a desktop or laptop and is really the best solution we've found for mobile devices.  It simply makes the mobile purchase experience very easy.

Epoch's responsive V3 payment form is available now to all Epoch clients and is incredibly easy to implement by simply adding a little more information to your linking code.  Simply go to any of your payment form strings and add &version=3 to your linking code in the URL.  Alternatively, clients may ask Epoch tech support to make V3 their default payment page, thus avoiding the need to change any links at all.  V3 performs equally well on desktops as it is a device friendly page.  It is not necessary to use separate templates for desktops versus phones and tablets.

You do not need to contact us to implement the new form.  But if you have any questions, feel free to get in touch with us at any time.

Don't be a victim of fraud. Know the scams. Use sites you trust.

::: SCAM ALERT :::

If anyone contacts you by phone, email, or any other method and claims to be a representative for Epoch, do NOT respond to them in any way.  Under no circumstances should you give any of your personal data including credit card numbers, to any one who contacts you unsolicited.  If you do you will get ripped off.

Epoch does not contact anyone asking for personal information.  You could be asked for partial information if you were to proactively contact Epoch with a question regarding a charge, but even then we do not ask for compete account numbers.

Protect your debit and credit card numbers from fraud.  Use them only on sites that you trust and when the site is secured.

When shopping online, always look for security features from your browser.

Make sure the site begins with https:// and not http://

And if you believe your card number might have been compromised and used to make a purchase you did not approve, and was processed by Epoch, contact us any time and we will be happy to help you.
